Consortia & Library Networks

  • SCAMeL
    • The South Central Academic Medical Libraries consortium. The library participates in the shared purchase of many electronic journals through this group.
  • The National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM)
    • The library is a member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine founded by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and serves as a resource library for north Louisiana through the National Network of Libraries of Medicine.
  • Louisiana Library Network (LOUIS)
    • A consortium of academic & public libraries within Louisiana. Through the library's membership, LSUHSC-S receives access to 26 databases, some of which offer full text of many journal articles.
  • Louisiana Academic Library Information Network Consortium (LALINC)
    • Effectively a subset of the Louisiana Library Network, this consoritum consists of Academic libraries within Louisiana. LALINC provides reciprocal borrowing privileges from other academic libraries in Louisiana to LSUHSC-S patrons.
  • DOCLINE
    • A computerized interlibrary loan network run by the National Library of Medicine. Most of the library's requests for interlibrary loan of journal article photocopies are placed using this network.
  • OCLC
    • The Online Computer Library Center. The library utilizes OCLC's interlibrary loan systems to place interlibrary loan requests for books and for photocopies of articles from journals that are not available on DOCLINE. In addition, membership in this network provides the library access to a large shared collection of cataloging records.
  • Oklahoma, Texas, & Louisiana Hospital Libraries
    • The library receives access to the Stat!Ref online book collection through a shared purchase with this group.
