Setting up Internet explorer to use a proxy server over a broadband connection You must first contact the library (Angela Ledger, x5-5460) to have a proxy server account created before following these steps.
Note that sometimes, you will get a spurious "page not found" message on the first page you load after turning on the proxy server--this problem should disappear when you hit your browser's REFRESH button. The proxy server does tend to slow down network access, so you will probably want to turn it on only when you need to access IP-validated resources. You can toggle the proxy server on and off by simply checking or unchecking the "use proxy server" box under tools-->Internet Options-->Connections-->LAN settings. The address and port number are "sticky" and should not have to be reentered.
