To donate your old glasses and eyeglass cases, please leave them in the basket at the Library’s circulation desk. At the end of November, the glasses will be given to the Shreveport Red River Lions Club. The Lions Club accepts prescription glasses, reading glasses, and sunglasses, with plastic or metal frames. Children’s glasses are especially needed. Donate your old eyeglasses, and help change lives one pair at a time.

Medical School History on Display in the Library

The Library is celebrating the medical school’s Founders Day with a new exhibit. Photographs of each medical school class through 2005 are displayed on the first floor of the Library. These composites have been created for the classes’ ten-year reunions.  Other exhibits related to the school’s history can be found in the glass display cases near the library entrance.

For more information on our institution’s history, see the Library’s website on LSU Health Shreveport History.  This chronology includes links to some fascinating historical resources, such as a 1979 interview in which Dr. Joe Holoubek describes the behind-the-scenes work of local physicians to establish our medical school.
