Easter Holiday Hours

Holiday hours for the Library will be as follows:      

March 25-27 Closed
March 28 Open 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.
March 29 Normal hours resume

The Library staff members wish everyone a happy, long weekend.


Pi Day 3.14

Library staff and students enjoyed sweet treats in the Library for Pi Day. This day celebrates the mathematical constant π and is observed on 3.14 because 3,1, and 4 are the first three digits in Pi.


4th Annual Art from the Heart Show and Reception

See the artistic talents of the faculty, staff, and students of LSU Health Shreveport and University Health at the Art from the Heart exhibit that will be held in the Library between March 15 and May 31. You will have the opportunity to chat with the artists during the opening reception on Thursday, March 17 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Library. This event includes a variety of artwork, such as paintings, photographs, illustrations, painted glass panes, embroidered dresses, custom-made duck calls, and even a birdhouse!


Library Faculty Member Retiring

The Library faculty and staff congratulate Charlie Tudor, MHA, on his retirement March 31. Mr. Tudor has worked at LSU Health Shreveport for eighteen years, serving for the last four years in the Health Sciences Library.   In his role as Systems Librarian, he has significantly improved our technological infrastructure and cheerfully helped with computer problems.  In his retirement, he plans to travel around the country in his RV.  We appreciate Mr. Tudor’s years of service to the Library and LSU Health, and we wish him all the best in his retirement!

Library Faculty Elected Vice-Chair of Louisiana Library Association Section

Congratulations to Will Olmstadt, associate director, who was elected Vice-Chair of the Subject Specialists section of the Louisiana Library Association. The Subject Specialists section encourages librarians and library staff with a subject interest or expertise, or those who are employed in a special library, information center or special collection, through continuing education opportunities and programs at the association’s annual meeting. Founded in 1925, the Louisiana Library Association is the only statewide organization representing libraries of all types. Mr. Olmstadt’s term as Vice-Chair goes through June 2017.


Celebrating March’s Match Day

How well do you know the Class of 2016? In honor of March Match Day and the graduating Class of 2016, the Library is holding a contest. What percentage of our Class of 2016 will stay in Louisiana? After Louisiana, which state will have most students from our Class of 2016 attending for residencies? Who will be the last Class of 2016 student to get match results at the Match Day ceremony? Enter the Match Day Contest by Noon on Thursday, March 17.
